We are looking for a Project Commissioning Engineer for a permanent position based with our client in Hull.
Immediate start available (subject to interview process)
Salary Circa £60,000 per annum (depending on skills and experience)
We are seeking a highly motivated Project Design and Build Engineer to lead and manage the commissioning of a small-scale Waste-to-Energy (WtE) plant.
Key responsibilities
Commissioning Management
* Develop, implement, and manage the commissioning plan, schedules, and procedures for all plant systems (mechanical, electrical, control, thermal).
* Coordinate and supervise commissioning activities with sub-contractors, equipment suppliers, and internal teams.
* Lead system readiness checks, functional testing, start-up sequences, and performance validation.
* Monitor commissioning progress, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions.
Technical Oversight
* Review and verify engineering documentation, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, O&M manuals, and commissioning test packs.
* Ensure all systems meet design specifications, operational requirements, and regulatory compliance.
* Support validation of process parameters, control logic, and safety interlocks.
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
* Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all commissioning activities comply with site HSE rules and statutory regulations.
* Conduct risk assessments, method statement reviews, and permit-to-work coordination.
Problem Solving and Design Change Management
* Work with the control system Engineer to identify issues with the plant.
* Engineer solutions and present this to management for approval and then implement these solutions in a timely manner
* Updating of documents (FDS, P&IDs, Wiring Diagrams etc) to reflect these changes
* Facilitate progress meetings, prepare status reports, and maintain clear communication on commissioning milestones.
Documentation & Handover
* Produce comprehensive commissioning reports, punch lists, and as-built documentation.
* Support training of plant operations personnel.
* Ensure successful handover to operations, including reliability testing and performance guarantee runs.
