We are seeking a professional and reliable Class 2 Truck Driver to join our client's team in the Sheffield area.
This is 3-4 weeks work with an immediate start.
Rate of pay is £17.00 per hour.
THERE WILL BE LABOURING DUTIES IN THE WORKSHOP WHEN NOT DRIVING, SO MUST BE PREPARED TO DO THIS KIND OF WORK.
Responsibilities
* Safely operate flatbed lorries to deliver goods to various locations.
* Plan routes effectively to optimise delivery times and fuel efficiency.
* Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
* Secure cargo properly on flatbeds to prevent damage during transit.
* Maintain accurate delivery documentation and logs in accordance with company policies.
* Communicate proactively with dispatchers regarding delivery schedules or any issues encountered en-route.
* Adhere strictly to all road safety laws and company policies during driving duties.
* Assist with loading and unloading cargo when necessary, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a commercial driver, preferably with delivery driver experience specialising in flatbed operations.
* Clean valid driving licence suitable for operating light goods vehicles (LGV) or lorries.
* Demonstrable knowledge of driving regulations and safety standards within the UK.
* Strong understanding of flatbed securing techniques and cargo safety procedures.
* Excellent driving skills with a clean driving record.
* Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across multiple deliveries.
* Physical fitness to handle loading/unloading tasks when required.
* Prior experience of handling and delivering architectural metalwork & steel products preferable, but not essential.
* Flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings or late shifts if necessary.
