We are looking for a Substation Fitter for a permanent position for a client based in Leeds.
Immediate start available (subject to interview).
The successful candidate must live within a commutable distance to Leeds, but also must be willing to work away at short notice, as this role will be site based.
Job Responsibilities:
* To carry out all operations in accordance with our client's Health & Safety policy and customer site specific health & safety requirements.
* Complete all operations in line with the company's Quality Standard BS EN ISO 9001 2008 and Environmental Standard BS EN ISO 14001 2004 accreditations.
* Complete mechanical maintenance and fitting works as required by customer instructions, including oil sampling, instrument and ancillary equipment replacement and re-gasketing operations.
* Complete the requirements in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, of low, medium and high voltage electrical networks and their components, for distribution both above and below ground.
* Complete requirements in the Refurbishment process of medium and high voltage electrical equipment to a DNO standard including full paint protection of customer property.
* To assist Senior Site Supervisors in recording and producing the correct onsite documentation to allow the Project Manager to put together suitable site commissioning reports for the client efficiently and accurately.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to work well under pressure.
* Experience of reading, understanding, and interpreting electrical/mechanical drawings.
* Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team.
* Daily progress reporting and attendance of client interface meetings.
* Communications with all parties ensuring they are kept up to date during the progression of each project.
* Always work in a responsible manner to ensure safe working practices.
* Proactively contribute to the company's policy of continuous improvement.
* Always act in the best interests of the client, and not to carry out (or fail to carry out) any action that would bring the company into disrepute.
* Treat all other employees and all our customers professionally and with respect.
Qualifications/Skills required:
* GCSE's High School or equivalent.
* Candidate must have Electrical/Electronic/Mechanical Engineering HNC - as minimum qualification.
* Suitable qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA, Manual Handling, First Aid, Site Passports & Safety Training etc are desirable.
* Valid Driving Licence.
* Broad knowledge of power engineering plant and equipment, i.e., Transformers & Reactors, HV & LV Switchgear, Cabling and HV & LV protection schemes.
* Previous experience of Transformer commissioning including test such as insulation resistance, transformer ratio, vector group checks, CT testing and equipment testing.
* Computer literacy with MS Office applications and other relevant proprietary software packages.
* Slinging and Lifting experience.
A willingness to be flexible and work away from home at short notice is essential.
Salary is between £38,000 and £46,000 per annum (depending on experience and qualifications).
