Training Day - 04/03/20

While training and development have always been important at Dutton Recruitment, we’re more passionate than ever about providing development opportunities for our employees.

As part of this, we recently saw our first Internal Training day! This was delivered by Vikki Callanan, our Training and Development Officer, with a feature from Alex Myers, our Group Marketing Manager.

This sales training day was planned and developed by Vikki, who has over 18 years of experience in Recruitment, HR & Training. She joined Dutton last year as our first Training and Development Officer and has lots of exciting plans for the business.

The course was based at our Head Office in Sheffield, with employees from across the country attending. It was a very interactive day with a range of group activities and individual exercises, and it was fantastic to see everyone so engaged throughout the day.

Vikki covered a variety of different techniques that can be utilised day to day to ensure our recruitment solution is the best it can be – these included sales methods, lead generation and CV stripping. Of course, not all this content was new to them, but building and expanding on existing knowledge can be just as important as learning new things!

Alex covered a range of topics including personal branding, writing content for the web, and how best to utilise our unique internal marketing team.

He also gave a brief overview of the company history and how our strong heritage feeds into our core brand values.

When asked about how the day went, Vikki said “When it comes to training, it is all about a person’s mindset and attitude – the more you put in, the more you get out. Last weeks’ training day was full of energy and openness to both take on board new techniques, and to look at different ways we currently do things. The group activities were my favourite part of the day, hearing everyone contribute and sharing ideas.”

Alex said “Dutton Recruitment has an extremely positive and unique brand. It has been central to everything we do for over three decades. It’s crucial that our staff recognise this heritage, and feel empowered by the brand they work for.

Also, marketing and sales working in close conjunction is one of our great strengths, and something that can always be developed even further at days like this. I really enjoyed it, and it’s great to see the passion people have for the business.”

Well, it’s safe to say our first Internal Training day was a success. A great day was had by all and we can’t wait for the next one…

Not that we’ll be waiting long – it’s in a couple of weeks!

Keep your eyes peeled for training updates!
