Introducing Safe Haven - January's Charity of the Month!

Charity is something that’s very close to our heart here at Dutton Recruitment, and we run various charity events throughout the year alongside making donations to some very worthy causes.

This charitable attitude is something that extends beyond Dutton as a business through to our employees as well. Each month our employees make a donation to dress-down on a Friday and this money is donated to a deserving charity.

This year, we’re reinventing how this donation is assigned, putting it completely in the hands of our employees. Each month, everyone can suggest a charity of their choice, be it big, small, local or international. We then pick one of these at random each month to receive this donation.

January’s charity of the month was chosen by one of our consultants, Candy Bull. She suggested Safe Haven, an organisation that provide a safe space for people that are in need in and around Rotherham.

Since opening in 2015 they have seen the number of visitors growing every year and continue to run the operations based on their only rule: ‘if someone comes to our door, they come in; we refuse no one’.

This fantastic organisation is run purely by volunteers, and they have won awards for their service and dedication to the community.  They open multiple nights a week to provide shelter, food, drink, warmth, and comfort for people who may not have this anywhere else.

Our employee’s generous donations will be spent on supplies for the shelter ranging from Tea and Coffee to bags they use to distribute donated food supplies.

Barrie Thomas, the Project Lead says ‘We are honoured to be able to serve some of the needs of Rotherham's needier people, and a generous donation like this is very much appreciated. This assists us to continue to provide what appears to be a much-needed service in central Rotherham.’
