
Events Development Support Officer required for our local authority client based in North Somerset.
THE ROLE:
Take over development responsibility of new medium events/support on Major events to ensure a delivery plan is in place covering operational liaison, health and safety plans and other key plans for compliance with legislative and local requirements.
Liaise with officers working in seafronts, health and safety, licensing and other functions involved in events are up to date and briefed on current policy, strategy and legislation pertinent to the safe delivery of events in North Somerset.
Lead on testing and embedding the new digital booking system to ensure functionality is fit for purpose and support the introduction of the system for future bookings.
Process initial enquiries, events research and sourcing and make recommendations for inclusion in future programmes of events.
Undertake site visits and working from event sites as required to assess suitability of venues and effective staging of events.
Provide support and advice to identified groups/businesses and members of the public as detailed within the events programme and ensure the appropriate action is taken to comply with legislation and contract standards.
Take a lead role in developing identified specific services, events or projects with clearly identified outcomes to promote new processes for event programming.
deputise for the Events Development Manager as required to gather information to support decision making by others.
Provide support for the staging of new medium/ major events, working collaboratively with event organisers/promoters to develop a framework for compliance in order to meet legislative requirements.
Give information and advice to businesses and the public about legislative requirements and standards for protection and safety. Establish & maintain appropriate links between the public and other professionals to encourage a clear understanding of each other's priorities and ways of working.
Communicate effectively with contractors, colleagues and businesses, both verbally and in writing, through the appropriate use of notes and other record keeping within information sharing protocols and record keeping policies.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Vocational qualification or experience to level 5 or above in Events Management
Extensive practical experience of working within the events organisation sector, giving rise to a variety of technical skills and sound understanding of the standards, legal responsibilities, work practices and processes relevant to the role.
Knowledge and understanding of technical standards, safe working practices and legislation for manage a programme of events ensuring smooth running events.
Ability to analyse designated areas of work and make recommendations to improve them.
Ability to engage with businesses and partner agencies within the relevant codes of practice and safe systems of work.
Ability to prepare & present evidence clearly and confidently.
Ability to manage/organise own work to meet agreed deadlines.
Understanding and recognition of professional boundaries.
