New growth in West Yorkshire

Dutton International has a long standing reputation in Construction Recruitment in the West Yorkshire area and up until the early 2000's we had a prominent office in the area. Over time our strategy involved us moving the management of our West-Yorkshire operations to our flagship Sheffield Branch. In 2009 we acquired Esprit People Ltd, a specialist agency supporting Industrial and Engineering Recruitment based in Leeds. In 2010 we moved all West Yorkshire operations back to Leeds and into our brand new Alexandra House, Leeds office and have since launched a thriving Engineering, Industrial and Healthcare recruitment service, once again, under the Dutton banner in Leeds. In October 2011 we began again to operate our West Yorkshire Construction service from Leeds. David de Livio is our newest member of the team who, with the support of the group behind him is managing our operation from the LS11 location. We have caught up with David today to discuss his new appointment as Construction Manager with Dutton International. David, welcome to Dutton International, how are you settling in?

I'm settling in really well. Dutton has a fantastic structure for supporting its Consultants and Managers and an established base of clients and workers across the region. It's great to be part of a progressive team.

What encouraged you to work with Dutton International?

Dutton has been in business for almost 30 years and has the kind of structure that you don't tend to find in newer companies. They have a reputation that proceeds them for quality service and strong resources. Throughout my career in Recruitment I have come across Dutton on many occasions and have at times competed against them to work with various Clients. I felt that the time was right for me to get on-board and bring my skills to their organisation and so to further my career.

What are your aims now you've settled in to the new Leeds Branch?

I really just want to get my head down and press on with supporting the brand. We have a mighty reputation in this region and I want to capitalise on that to make the most of my role and to bring as much business as possible to the new branch.

What are the biggest hurdles to overcome in Construction in the area?

We're at the back end of a recession right now. Money has been tight for many contractors and many projects have been shelved or scaled down over the last 2 years. Work is picking up now in a big way and the most time consuming factor in my role tends to be communicating to clients that our service is really affordable and can in many ways enhance the profitability and of the typical construction project.

Where do you intend to take the branch in the next 12 months?

In the next 12 months I see the department continuing to thrive. I would like to build the team and am always looking for strong recruiters to bring to the brand, I guess I'll continue to keep an eye out for Recruitment Consultants that have the capacity to be part of my team. Over the next 12 months I'm going to be developing our existing preferred suppliers agreements and seeking out new business across the region and introducing our service to those who aren't aware of our specialist provision within the construction sector.
