We are looking for a Production Process Engineer for a permanent position in Sheffield
Salary is between £34,000 and £40,000 per annum (depending on experience).
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the role requires using engineering best practice to maximise productivity and efficiency whilst designing and developing cost effective and manufacturable new products to a project plan including customer specifications and timescales. Developing and utilising new technologies and materials to maximise both process capabilities and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the development of new manufacturing processes and applying to our products with a view to increasing health and safety, quality and efficiency
* Produce manufacturing instructions / standards for new and existing products
* Work alongside production improving best working practices, documentation quality, health and safety and efficiency
* Use lean manufacturing methods hosting value stream mapping events to improve production and order processing.
* Identify new opportunities to implement new equipment into the factory to improve productivity and health and safety
* Project lead for assigned new products developed through the New product introduction (NPI) process
* Maintaining detailed project / design files for NPI process
* Product development across all departments of the business
* Design and control development projects, with regular reporting of project status
* Ensure safe working practices are adhered to when implementing new products, processes or equipment
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
* Minimum HNC qualified (or relevant experience) or a graduate from a relevant Science or Engineering discipline
* Excellent organisational and demonstrable project management skills
* Experience of implementing LEAN manufacturing processes
* Six Sigma training would be desirable
* Experience of running or facilitating Kaizen events
* Effective communication skills given the scope of contacts to the roles both internally and externally
* 5+ years' experience in a process engineering or R&D environment would be desirable
* CAD/CAM would be a bonus
Working Hours and Benefits
* 39 hours a week (hours to be agreed upon)
* 25 days annual leave plus 8 statutory holidays. Holidays can be taken hourly.
