We are looking for Mechanical Fitters for permanent positions for a client in North East Lincolnshire.
This position will involve a substantial amount of working away from home (UK and abroad), so must be flexible and comfortable with this.
Must live within a commutable distance to North East Lincolnshire as there will occasionally be workshop work involved.
A working knowledge of sootblowers would be advantageous. A lot of the work will be stripping and overhauling valves and gearboxes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
* Work and adhere to health and safety legislation of a high standard
* Have a mechanical engineering/fitting capability that expands out from workshop fitting, such as working out on site
* Provide support and assistance to customers based on their requirements/workscope
* Responsible for the servicing and testing of our products in house and out on site
* Commission equipment out on site and make sure the equipment meets the criteria and standards set for safe use
* Be available to travel both nationally & worldwide and not solely be a workshop-based fitter
Day-to-day responsibilities/duties:
* Ensure that regulations, standards and practices are realised (health and safety, manual handling, lifting regulations etc)
* Participate in efforts that surround a job, such as preliminary processes before work begins
* Follow engineering drawings/illustrations/information to assemble and or disassemble systems safely
* Carry out inspections and surveys of mechanical equipment and systems
* Carry out maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems
* Carry out repairs of mechanical equipment and systems
* Carry out overhaul works of mechanical equipment and systems
* Liaise with customers and conduct work such as installations or general maintenance of boiler support systems on site
* Complete reports and spares sheets
* Collaborate with Managers regarding work/job structures
* Utilise the correct power tools, hand tools and machinery to complete mechanical works
* Work with and be competent around pressurised components including valves and steam pipe work
* Follow Safe Systems of Work procedures including isolations and lock-out-tag-out methodology
* Adhere to site policies (different organisations host different policies and procedures)
* Communicate with surrounding work parties
* Work in line of the National Agreement for the Engineering Construction Industry (NAECI)
* Adhere to Risk Assessments and Method Statements and support the ongoing development of such
* Work in conditions and environments such as Power Stations, Oil Refineries, and Waste Incinerators to name a few
Qualifications, Skills and Characteristics:
* Essential to have completed a Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or be a time-served individual
* Have great problem-solving skills
* Work well in a team and be a team player
* Due to the nature of the job, have a good level of physical strength and stamina
* Relevant mechanical skills
* Knowledge of tooling, machinery and equipment
* Possess interpersonal skills to be able to communicate with colleagues, customers and potential clients
* Be available and willing to travel nationwide (in some instances international travel is an option, if appropriate)
* Contribute to the development of products, procedures and processes for further innovation
CCNSG Safety Passport would be advantageous (Candidates will be put through the course if required but must have the relevant background).
