Housing Management Officer required for our local authority client based in Berkshire.

£15 to £18 per hour

THE ROLE:

This is a small but busy team and they are looking for someone who is an experienced Housing Management Officer who can step straight into the role. In totality the Council's Housing team manage 160 residential properties across the borough. These are primarily used as temporary accommodation for homeless households whilst homelessness applications are investigated and whilst more permanent housing solutions are sourced to enable the Council to discharge our duty.

The stock includes some multi-occupancy properties with shared facilities, but primarily these are self-contained, single occupancy houses. A small number of properties are used as permanent shared homes for people with learning disabilities.

The purpose of this role is to deliver a comprehensive housing management service to a portfolio of temporary and emergency accommodation which will include a range of schemes and tenures.



Dealing with all aspects of tenancy management and enforcement, Anti-social behaviour and tenancy sustainment support where tenancies/placements may be at risk as a result of these issues. letting of temporary and emergency accommodation, facilitating the move-on to general needs accommodation where appropriate, voids and lettings management; occupancy checks, property inspections, monitoring the condition of accommodation and any fittings/contents - overseeing cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts, reporting defects and working with contractors to organise repairs, planned and cyclical maintenance to ensure the properties are compliant with health and safety and Council standards



To establish effective working relations and be a point of contact for homeless clients residing in temporary accommodation, Landlords, associated providers of accommodation, contractors, all internal and external agencies.



Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Experience



Up to date knowledge of housing legislation in relation to allocations, homelessness, Landlord and Tenant Law.



Ability to work to conflicting deadlines and able to manage time and resources effectively.

Experience of problem solving with customers and gaining agreement to a course of action.

Experience of providing emotional support to customers who are faced with difficult/challenging situations.



Experience of working in a busy, front line, customer-focused team.



Ability to work effectively in a team and develop positive relationships with colleagues, managers and other services and organisations.



Experience of voids, lettings and being able to prioritise property inspections.



Effective communication skills, orally and in writing including experience of dealing with situations involving distressed or challenging conversations

Understanding of and commitment to the requirements of safeguarding children, young people, vulnerable adults and promoting their welfare.

Experience of investigating and resolving customer complaints.
