Community Spaces Manager required for our local authority client based in North London

£32 per hour

THE ROLE:

To lead on the review of Community Spaces ensuring that a clear strategy is developed, in consultation with all relevant stakeholders. To implement the strategy and develop a service structure to ensure flexibility and cost-effective running of the Community Spaces.

To lead on commercial development for the Service reducing any cost to the Council for delivering Cultural and Community activities. Leading on partnership development with national, regional and local parties. Developing a coordinated approach to ensure best use of Community Spaces by creating partnerships of regional and local providers, organisers and suppliers. Linking with national, regional and local partners to make the Community Spaces venues and the events the most sought-after visitor destinations in the Region. Ensuring inward investment and economic development and fair participation and access of all diverse communities and usage for the benefit of all sections of the community.

To be responsible for the development, management, operation and control of Community Spaces ensuring the development of attractive, efficient and cost-effective services to customers, participants, and audiences; providing a programme of community initiatives, arts, entertainment, education and cultural activities including commercial and community hires. Ensuring that the Community Spaces facilitate the delivery of Council's essential and statutory services and meet the needs of the local communities.

To be responsible for the maintenance and repair of Community Spaces ensuring the condition of the Councils assets are maintained at their best. To ensure that health and safety is managed effectively within the Community Spaces. To adequately supervise, contract manage, co-ordinate and client manage the activities of all parties engaged in Community Spaces service delivery.

To run Community Spaces 7 days a week with variable hours from 8am through to Midnight. To provide effective out of hours cover for Community Spaces.

To carry out and co-ordinate all financial, administrative, performance management, quality assurance and recording tasks in relation to this role and maintain detailed, accurate records of all activities in accordance with legislation and policies and procedures



Job Specifics - Skills, Experience, Knowledge & Abilities

Essential:

Ability to engage, coach and motivate teams and set clear targets and expectations

Evidence of high levels of customer service and satisfaction

Experience of successfully managing performance and providing clear constructive feedback

Experience of successfully implementing plans and projects to time and budget

Ability to effectively plan and manage budgets and resources

Demonstrates a good understanding of the political structure and role of elected members

Ability to work collaboratively both with own service and across other services

As a regular and intrinsic part of this role required you to speak to members of the public in English, the ability to converse at ease, politely and courteously with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential and consistent with the requirements of this role.

Knowledge of housing law and understanding of the issues facing social housing

Experience of delivering customer facing commercial activities within a local authority and understanding of the importance of involving residents in management decisions.

Experience of developing partnerships and supporting amateur and community organisations

Experience of delivering capital development projects, procurement and contract monitoring

Experience of managing educational and cultural projects and community focused services and teams

Provision of robust professional advice and guidance on building maintenance and repair and H&S matters

Desirable:

Experience of working with Vulnerable Adults, Families, Children and Young People

Experience of working in Housing or Community Focused environment

Experience of working on regeneration projects
