An experienced Project Engineer for a permanent position with our client in Stocksbridge. Our client specialises in the manufacture of various steel products.



About the role:

As the Project Engineer your role will be to evaluate, define and implement engineering projects in line with the annual capital development plan. You will ensure that the project scope is delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the agreed quality. You will work with other areas of our clients business and build relationships with external companies, government agencies, educational establishments, technical bodies and institutions.



Being a valid member of the Project Engineering department you will be required to work as part of a team delivering large/complex projects and/or lead a team delivering small/simple projects. Although the role will be focused on supporting our clients business units , there is the potential to expand to other parts of the GFG Alliance within the UK and Europe.



Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

* To understand the project requirements, define success criteria and agree the project scope; develop project schedules and manage resources to ensure the key milestones are met.
* Investigate and evaluate the technical options and develop the preferred solutions in line with the project requirements and also within the constraints of time, cost and quality.
* Manage quality through specifying, auditing, checking, reviewing and testing.
* Manage the project issues, risks, stakeholders, scope, and change to help ensure project success.
* Assist the Project Sponsor in developing business case documentation.
* Manage the procurement process to ensure that enquiries are issued, tenders evaluated, contracts agreed, orders placed, variations managed and invoices paid.
* Specify plant, tools and equipment and oversee design, manufacture, installation and commissioning to ensure that assets supplied or modified as part of the project are fit for purpose and comply with relevant company, national and international standards.
* Prepare project reports and issue to the relevant stakeholders.
* Plan and manage all work to ensure that it is done in line with the safety, health and environmental (SHE) policies and legislation.
* Plan and co-ordinate all site based activities to ensure that they are done safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to business as usual activities.
* Provide professional engineering support to Works Engineering and Operations teams.
* Ensure compliance with the Company Asset Management Framework (CAMF) and department Project Management Methodology (PMM).
* Manage project documentation to ensure that it is produced, stored and disseminated in line with the department PMM.
* Ensure recommended spares lists are issued and that sufficient training is supplied as part of the project.
* Ensure drawing records and the asset register are updated.



To be successful within this role you will ideally have:

* Has a relevant degree in a Mechanical or an Electrical discipline or equivalent experience.
* A relevant Project Management Qualification e.g. APM Introductory Certificate / APMP
* Health and Safety Qualifications
* Is working towards, or has Chartered Engineer status.
* Project Management knowledge and experience gained within a heavy engineering environment.
* You will be a strong communicator with an ability in building effective relationships across all areas and levels, and can demonstrate a clear direction to achieve success.
* You will be a strong problem solver that can identify, root cause and can achieve solutions to challenges. will have strong experience of managing projects and in delivering results and be comfortable in managing change.



Salary - £35,000 - £45,000 Per/annum (Depending on experience).
