Onsite Technical Officer required for our local authority client based in South East London.

THE ROLE:

The post will be based outdoors all day and all data input will happen on a tablet.

The post holder will be required to inspect properties throughout the borough, reporting on bin receptacles including type and number of bins and where there are any anomalies make suggestions to remedy the issue.



Use their geographical knowledge of the Borough to cover the borough in an efficient manner ensuring all works are carried out within the relevant timelines. Inspect and report on other assets as and when required e.g. litter bins and gullies.



Requires a certain level of fitness to cover large areas of the Borough on a daily basis.

Where a property does not appear as it should in the LLPG will make a note and let the Gazetteer team know either directly or through the Project Support Officer.

Interact with any members of the public who might query the work they are carrying out in a polite manner and defuse any situations that might arise should the member of the public wish to complain about the Council.

Request assistance from residents on Estates if the location of the bins is not immediately clear.

Will work on site ensuring that all Coronavirus measures regarding social distancing and the wearing of PPE with interacting with members of the public.

Where assets are incorrectly associated with a property will determine the number and type of assets that should be on site and will make note of those suggestions and provide feedback to the Senior Environmental Commissioning Officer.

Will be fully responsible for all IT equipment ensuring the equipment is locked away safely each evening and is not left out of sight when working.

Must ensure that the PDAs are fully charged the night before so that they can be used throughout the working day.

Should have knowledge of any 'dead spots' in the Borough so that information can be uploaded on a daily basis.

Manage work email accounts, reading and responding to queries promptly and in a professional manner.

Ensure any data issues that require additional input are raised by the Project Support Officer are dealt with in an efficient and timely manner.

Wear appropriate clothing to deal with any and all weather conditions.

Carry out all duties during daylight hours.

When auditing gullies or litter bins a clearly defined GIS location should noted to ensure that this can be updated by the Gazetteer team using various mapping methods.

Undertake any other duties that may be required to meet the demands of the service. These may be varied from time to time to meet the needs of the service consistent with the requirement of the job. Provide cover to other areas in the absence of staff to ensure that an adequate service is provided.
