Customer Services Officer required for our local authority client based in Kingston

Pay: £11 p/h

Hours: 36 p/w (09:00 - 18:00)

Contract Length: 3 Months - possibly ongoing



THE ROLE: We are looking for front-line library staff across four locations within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames. There may be a need to move between libraries within the borough. The main aspects of the role are customer service and tasks such as shelving book stock. Basic IT skills are necessary but full training of our Library Management Software will be provided. Every other Saturday and one evening (7 pm/8 pm depending on location) per week also be required.



you will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of library services, maintaining a high level of customer care, and assisting customers with queries. You will also provide accurate high-quality information to help and support the well-being of customers.

The role will support informal learning and reader development by promoting the stock, signposting to appropriate information providers, and coaching customers on basic IT skills.

To assist customers, face to face and on the telephone, and encourage customers to utilize self-serve facilities.



Responsibilities:

To carry out routine tasks as allocated by managers and supported by colleagues, including stock maintenance, withdrawal, shelving, revision, and financial procedures.

To promote books and reading through good product knowledge and help support customers in their reading choices.

To have the ability to respond to customers in a calm and understanding manner at all times and ensure their needs are understood and acted upon.

To comply with all Council policies and procedures, including health & safety risk assessments.



Knowledge and Experience:



* Excellent levels of numeracy and literacy



* Have an understanding of the best practice and customer contact procedures and the ability to apply these to everyday work activities



* Ability to take on board the physical elements of the role - supported by health and safety procedures and equipment



* Must be able to demonstrate an understanding of the importance of a high-quality customer environment, as well as an ability to present an enthusiastic, outgoing, and positive approach.
