Certified Social Worker required for our local authority client based in Kensington & Chelsea

Pay: £30p/h

Hours: 09:00-17:00 (36hrs p/w)

Contract Length: 3 months - possibly ongoing

THE ROLE: We are looking for a skilled social worker with 2 years+ of post-qualification experience to join our local authority team, your role will be to support children who are being cared for by the system or are asylum-seeking.

You will be liaising with other sectors including, the Home Office, Refugee Council, and other legal representatives of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

Providing leaving care service and ensuring an effective transition into leaving care services and/or supporting return to the country of origin.

Undertaking age assessments of children where there is insufficient information as to their true age

All staff is expected to carry out their job in compliance with the Council's Constitution. This means being familiar with the policies and procedures relevant to the job and asking for information and advice if you are unsure of the correct course of action. The Council's Constitution is published on the internet for your viewing/research.

Staff will be managing caseloads determined by the Service Manager or Practice Manager and undertaking work alone or with others on complex LAC and care leaver cases.

You will be reviewing cases and making clear and concise judgment calls on the correct course of action.


· To undertake this position, you must be able to meet the registration criteria set down by Social Work England (SWE).

· Must have an understanding of child protection and statutory childcare work.

· Experience of working with looked after children and/or care, leavers

· Knowledge of children's legislation including immigration law about unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

· An understanding of the need to make effective plans for children.

· Ability to relate to children, young people, and family members

· Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with service users, carers, and other professionals.

· Ability to work under pressure and manage stress.

· Ability to organize and prioritize own workload.

· Ability to provide a service that is culturally sensitive and empowering for all service users.

· Ability to advocate on behalf of an unaccompanied asylum-seeking child and care leavers

· Ability to exercise authority appropriately.
