We have an exciting opportunity for a Brokerage Placement Co-ordinator (Public Sector) to join our local authority client based in the South East London area.

£19ph paye or £23ph umbrella



THE ROLE:

The Council is seeking to recruit a high calibre, dynamic individual with significant experience in job brokerage, recruitment, and partnership development, maximising the numbers of local residents accessing a range of opportunities in the borough. You will need to have a well-developed understanding of how best to secure job vacancies, apprenticeships and work placement opportunities from employers, and to increase the rate of employment and skill levels for local residents.



MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB



This important role will seek to harness the benefits of new growth in the borough for local citizens particularly those that are currently unemployed. This role will be responsible for working closely with a range of stakeholders including employers, FE colleges, Jobcentre Plus and a network of employment and skill training providers to meet targets relating to the employment, and sustainment of employment for local people.



This role will focus on securing employment and skills development opportunities for local people by:



Engaging directly with employers in the borough to identify job vacancies and sharing these opportunities with a network of employment support partners



Working closely with employment and skills training providers on the Council Working Provider Network in the development and delivery of employer/sector-led recruitment activities



Identifying local residents wanting to work within a wide range of sectors and referring them to relevant training partners in order to develop vocational skills



Supporting individuals once they are in a work placement or job to ensure they retain their position, and gain the necessary skills in order for them to progress in employment



KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:



An understanding of how best to secure vacancies, apprenticeships and work placement opportunities from employers on the council's supply chain, within the borough, and across London in a range of industry sectors



An understanding of the variety of issues and barriers that providers of employment support and skills training face in making their job-seeking service users 'job-ready'; and knowledge of how to mitigate these issues





Knowledge of employer requirements in terms of 'job readiness' across a range of industries in both public and private sectors



Intermediate/advanced knowledge of office skills and use of common IT systems including spreadsheets, databases and CRM systems
